Wanted: Allplan BIM Projects for International Engineering Contest!

Germany/Munich, March 05, 2013 – For the eighth time the Nemetschek Structural Group holds the competition "2013 International Engineering Contest – Inspirations in Engineering". Civil and structural engineers who work with the BIM solution Allplan are welcome to participate. The engineering projects can be submitted until March 31, 2013 at www.nemetschek-scia.com/contest. The best projects will receive a monetary prize.

For the eighth time now, the competition prizes will be awarded by the Nemetschek Structural Group, a global leader in developing and providing software for structural engineering and infrastructure as part of Nemetschek AG. The Group's members are Nemetschek Scia, Nemetschek Allplan, Nemetschek Frilo, Nemetschek Engineering, and Glaser. All users of Nemetschek Engineering Software can enter the International Engineering Contest.

The competition is divided into these categories:
• Category 1: Buildings
• Category 2: Infrastructure
• Category 3: Industrial Buildings and Plants
• Category 4: Structural Design and Production
• Category 5: Special Projects

The competition focuses on changes in the international construction industry resulting from the application of the BIM approach. Special consideration goes to projects illustrating the advantages of working in an Open BIM process. An international professional jury will assess submissions' according to aspects like originality, level of difficulty, prestige, and innovative use of software.

The winning entries in each of the five categories and the additional “Special Jury Prize” will be awarded 1,500 euros. In addition, nominees and prizewinning projects are featured in international engineering and construction trade publications.

All submissions will be published in Nemetschek's "Inspirations in Engineering" book, which will be distributed to government agencies, professional associations, and influential industry leaders. It will also be available in digital format as an e-book.
