BIM2FIELD at KIBAG

BIM2FIELD is the logical step from BIM-based design to construction with BIM. Thanks to Bimplus and robust equipment, KIBAG is already successfully using BIM models on the construction site.

BIM-based design is becoming more and more usual in the AEC industry, but using virtual models on the construction site is not really widespread at all. However, some pioneers among construction companies are already benefiting from the advantages of BIM2FIELD in their daily work. This does not necessarily mean that all execution plans are excluded from the construction site, but their printouts are. Foremen, for example, can however access reliably up-to-date and relevant 3D model data, floor plans or sections quickly and clearly using tablets and take exact measurements. The Swiss company KIBAG Bauleistungen AG makes these and other added value approaches available to its construction sites - with the help of the OPEN BIM platform Bimplus.

BIM2FIELD not only replaces the paper-based "plan building" with a digital "screen building", but it also facilitates a whole range of use cases. For example, the exact gross volume of a wall can be queried spontaneously for ordering concrete, or the reinforcement model can be consulted for the correct positioning of the reinforcement bars to be able to understand the reinforcement layout in detail. In addition, work that would otherwise have to be done later in the office can be carried out directly on site using one and the same terminal. The BIM model forms the perfect basis for communication between the construction site and the design office. Discrepancies are documented efficiently and attached directly to the affected virtual components as an issue. Design experts in the office can then provide direct support in problem solving.

To make BIM2FIELD possible in the equipment-hostile construction site environment, KIBAG uses particularly robust equipment that has been specially developed for the harsh conditions of the construction site such as moisture, dust or tougher mechanical impacts.
