- Impress clients with the VR solution AX 3000 Virtual Reality
- More convenience and flexibility by connecting the structural analysis software SCIA Engineer and MS Excel with Allplan Bimplus
- Allplan Bimplus portal now with improved usability and advanced functionalities
In order to meet the various needs of the construction industry, ALLPLAN, a leading European provider of solutions for Building Information Modeling (BIM), is continuously expanding the functional scope of its cloud-based BIM platform Allplan Bimplus and developing new applications. The latest innovations concern the processing of alphanumeric component information, the connection of the Allplan Bimplus Task Board to SCIA Engineer as well as the three-dimensional presentation of the building model using virtual reality. The latter was developed by the Munich-based software company in cooperation with its partner EDV-Software-Service and is available via the revised Allplan Bimplus Portal.
"With its BIM platform Allplan Bimplus, ALLPLAN offers the optimal platform for collaborating across disciplines. With the current extensions, we offer a wide range of functions, which makes everyday working together easier for planners and gives them competitive advantages," says Markus Tretheway, Vice President of Product Management, ALLPLAN.
Realistic building inspection before the first groundbreaking
The VR solution AX 3000 Virtual Reality in combination with Allplan Bimplus thus improves the communication between planners, clients and other people involved into construction: Simply upload the building model in Allplan Bimplus and use the VR goggles OCULUS Rift® to undertake a virtual tour – and do this before the first groundbreaking even takes place. Since the BIM platform is system-independent, it does not matter what software was used to create the building model.
With AX 3000 Virtual Reality, users offer their clients a realistic spatial and design representation of the building project and the surroundings. They clarify detailed questions such as room dimensions, window size, materials or lighting conditions, for example using simulated movements of the sun. The software helps to identify and correct planning errors at an early stage. With this type of project presentation, the communication is brought to a new level and thus planners gain a clear competitive advantage.
Structural analysis software SCIA Engineer connected with Allplan Bimplus
Another new feature is the connection of the Allplan Bimplus Task Board to the structural analysis software SCIA Engineer. The Task Board can be used to quickly and clearly coordinate defined tasks among all those involved in planning. It is important that the individual specialist planners always have full control over their own sub-model in the process. Thus structural engineers who work with SCIA Engineer can now avail of the advantages of the open BIM platform and cooperate smoothly across disciplines.
More convenience and flexibility by connecting to MS Excel
Allplan Bimplus is now also connected to MS Excel for the first time, which makes editing component properties easier. All desired alphanumeric information, such as materials, fire protection classes, weights, prices, etc., are transferred directly to MS Excel from the BIM coordination model and can be further processed with the well-known Excel functions.
New portal with improved usability
All new functions and applications are available via the Allplan Bimplus portal: portal.bimplus.net. It was revised recently and advanced functionalities and an improved usability are now available to users.
